Tailor-made courses over one or two days.  Suited to get the best out of the available conditions and your ambitions, the courses are designed to provide you with the essential skills and more for safe travel in the British hills and on steeper broken ground with snow and ice.

Practical work on personal skills inc. ice axe work, cramponing & navigation, weather, snow/avalanche awareness and managing incidents are the foundations of all courses and when appropriate we look at using a rope and simple technical gear to safeguard movement on steep and expansive ground.

Andy has long-held the prestigious  'Winter Climbing and Mountaineering Instructor Certificate' (formerly MIC) and has been regularly delivering specialist winter training for our Mountain Rescue teams.

He has been running these courses since 1990 with over 300 clients: a number of whom have then taken their adventure into Alpine and other world-wide high mountain environments.
